<p>However, there is now some talk about <em>not</em> submitting sitemaps to Google.</p>

<p>The basic idea is that if you don&#8217;t submit a sitemap and allow Google to crawl your site naturally, then what it does not crawl may give you insight as to what Google deems as important or unimportant.</p>
<p>Also, submitting a sitemap may inadvertently tell the Google spider to crawl a page that is weak or a hinderance to your ranking.</p>
<p>Interesting counter-points.  I&#8217;m still not sure if I agree although it&#8217;s something to consider.</p>
